01 "An Act requiring public officials to serve as health mentors in the state."                                            
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 18.09 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
04                     Article 1A. Public Health Mentors.                                                                
05            Sec. 18.09.100. Public health mentors. All public officials of state and local                             
06       government shall serve as public health mentors and advocates by providing public                                 
07       and private support of health practices that encourage lifestyle choices that promote                             
08       good physical and mental health. The public officials shall provide public                                        
09       announcements by electronic and other means and conduct regular meetings and                                      
10       hearings that support good health.
