01 "An Act moving the Violent Crimes Compensation Board from the Department of                                             
02 Administration to the Department of Public Safety."                                                                     
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 18.67.020(a) is amended to read:                                                                   
05            (a)  The [THERE IS THE] Violent Crimes Compensation Board is established                             
06       in the Department of Public Safety. The board is [DEPARTMENT OF                                               
07       ADMINISTRATION] composed of three members to be appointed by the governor.                                        
08       One of the members shall be designated as chair by the governor. At least one member                              
09       must be a medical or osteopathic physician licensed to practice in this state or holding                          
10       a retired status license in this state and one member must be an attorney licensed to                             
11       practice in this state or retired from practice in this state.                                                    
12    * Sec. 2. AS 44.41.020 is amended by adding a new subsection:                                                      
13            (g)  The Department of Public Safety shall provide administrative services to                                
14       the Violent Crimes Compensation Board.                                                                            

01    * Sec. 3. AS 44.21.020(11) is repealed.
