01 "An Act relating to criminal and civil liability for failure to report certain child abuse or                           
02 neglect."                                                                                                               
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 47.17.068 is amended to read:                                                                      
05            Sec. 47.17.068. Penalty for failure to report; civil liability. A person who                             
06       fails to comply with the provisions of AS 47.17.020 or 47.17.023, and who knew or                             
07       reasonably should have known that the circumstances gave rise to the need for a                               
08       report, is                                                                                                        
09                 (1)  guilty of a class A misdemeanor;                                                           
10                 (2)  civilly liable for damages proximately caused by the failure.
