00 SENATE BILL NO. 115 01 "An Act creating a rural community energy assistance program; and providing for an 02 effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section 05 to read: 06 RURAL COMMUNITY ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. (a) A rural 07 community energy assistance program is established in the Department of Commerce, 08 Community, and Economic Development to provide grants for energy assistance to rural 09 communities in the state. 10 (b) The department shall, using appropriations made by the legislature for the 11 program, distribute grants to rural communities in need of energy assistance. 12 (c) The department shall adopt regulations under AS 44.62 (Administrative Procedure 13 Act) necessary to develop criteria, including requirements regarding the population of a 14 community and the price a community pays for energy, for evaluating the rural communities
01 most in need of energy assistance for disbursement of grants. 02 * Sec. 2. Section 1 of this Act is repealed June 30, 2010. 03 * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
