01 "An Act prohibiting power assisted retrieval of sport fish."                                                            
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 16.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
04            Sec. 16.05.406. Power assisted retrieval of sport fish prohibited. (a) A                                   
05       person may not take fish under a sport fishing license using power assisted retrieval                             
06       equipment.                                                                                                        
07            (b)  Notwithstanding (a) of this section, a person may take fish under a sport                               
08       fishing license using an electric reel attached to a fishing rod if the person                                    
09                 (1)  has in possession a valid copy of an official certification of                                     
10       physical disability from a federal or state government agency;                                                    
11                 (2)  is 65 years of age or older;                                                                       
12                 (3)  is 10 years of age or younger; or                                                                  
13                 (4)  has obtained a specific exemption relating to power assisted                                       
14       retrieval of sport fish from the department under regulations adopted by the                                      
15       department.
