01 "An Act relating to the expiration date of a concealed handgun permit."                                                 
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 18.65.700(d) is amended to read:                                                                   
04            (d)  A permit issued under (a) of this section expires on the person's birthday                          
05       in the fifth year following issuance of the permit. The department may adjust the                             
06       length of an initial permit so that a permit is not issued for a period of more than                          
07       five years [IS VALID FOR FIVE YEARS FROM THE DATE OF ISSUE].                                                  
08    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
09 read:                                                                                                                   
10       APPLICABILITY. AS 18.65.700(d), as amended by sec. 1 of this Act, applies to                                      
11 permits issued and renewed after the effective date of this Act.
