01 Establishing March 3, 2007, as Susan Butcher Day.

03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE:                                                                                         
04      WHEREAS Susan Butcher was a loving mother, devoted wife, world-class athlete,                                    
05 and four-time Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race champion; and                                                                
06      WHEREAS Susan Butcher represents an inspiration and an example for Alaskans of                                   
07 an indomitable positive attitude, physical strength, mental discipline, and tenacious                                   
08 determination; and                                                                                                      
09      WHEREAS the legislature wishes to honor Susan Butcher's life and her tireless                                    
10 devotion to dog mushing, Alaska's official sport, and to the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race; and                          
11      WHEREAS the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race traditionally starts on the first Saturday                              
12 in March;                                                                                                               
13      BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate respectfully requests the Governor to proclaim                                    
14 Saturday, March 3, 2007, as Susan Butcher Day, to remember and honor the life of Susan                                  
15 Butcher.
