00                      SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 16                                                                    
01 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to direction                                 
02 and control of the medical care and treatment of minors.                                                                
03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1. Article I, Constitution of the State of Alaska, is amended by adding a new                            
05 section to read:                                                                                                        
06            Section 26. Parental and Guardian Direction and Control of Medical Care                                    
07       and Treatment of Minors. Notwithstanding any other provision of this constitution,                              
08       the legislature may enact laws granting a parent or guardian the right to notice of, and                          
09       the right to direct and control, all or any portion of the medical care and treatment of                          
10       the parent's or guardian's minor child. Such laws shall be consistent with the United                             
11       States Constitution.                                                                                              
12    * Sec. 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of the                       
13 state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the State                      
14 of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
