01 "An Act relating to the energy dividend for 2007; and providing for an effective date."                                 
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section                         
04 to read:                                                                                                                
05       ENERGY DIVIDEND. (a) By March 31, 2008, the Department of Revenue shall pay                                       
06 to each individual who was eligible for a 2007 permanent fund dividend an additional energy                             
07 dividend for 2007 in the amount of $250 to help offset the high costs of energy. Payments                               
08 shall be made from the dividend fund (AS 43.23.045) in the same manner as payments of the                               
09 2007 permanent fund dividend were made, based on applications for the 2007 permanent fund                               
10 dividends.                                                                                                              
11       (b)  To the extent that they do not conflict with (a) of this section, provisions of the                          
12 permanent fund dividend program (AS 43.23.005 - 43.23.095) and other laws applicable to                                 
13 2007 permanent fund dividends apply to energy dividends authorized under this section.                                  
14    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
