01 "An Act relating to an energy subsidy for public schools."                                                              
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section                          
04 to read:                                                                                                                
05       ENERGY SUBSIDY FOR SCHOOLS. In addition to state aid provided under                                               
06 AS 14.17, the state shall pay an energy subsidy of 100 percent of the increased energy cost                             
07 over the energy cost for the prior fiscal year for the operation of a public school for fiscal                          
08 years 2007 through 2009 to each public school that submits an energy bill for each of those                             
09 fiscal years and each fiscal year immediately before each of those fiscal years in a form                               
10 acceptable to the Department of Education and Early Development.
