01 "An Act establishing the first week of every March as Alaska History Week; and                                          
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 44.12 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
05            Sec. 44.12.092. Alaska History Week.  The first week of March of each year                                 
06       is established as Alaska History Week to celebrate the contributions and experiences                              
07       that comprise the past development of The Great Land.  Alaska History Week may be                                 
08       observed by school assemblies, programs, and other suitable observances and                                       
09       exercises by civic groups and the public.                                                                         
10    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
