01 "An Act making the offering of certain promotional checks an unfair or deceptive act or

03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 45.50.471(b) is amended by adding a new paragraph to read:                                         
05                 (52)  offering a check, through the mail or by other means, to promote                                  
06       goods or services, if the cashing or deposit of the check obligates the endorser or                               
07       payee identified on the check to pay for goods or services; in this paragraph,                                    
08       "services" does not include the extension of credit or the lending of money.
