00            CS FOR SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 21(STA)                                                             
01 Relating to the Vietnam War, to veterans and their families, and to the Vietnam War                                     
02 memorial entitled "The Moving Wall."                                                                                    
03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04       WHEREAS the residents of the state should be made aware that the Vietnam War                                    
05 memorial entitled "The Moving Wall" will be visiting seven cities in the state between May                              
06 and July of 2006; and                                                                                                   
07       WHEREAS a disproportionately high number of veterans of the Vietnam War live in                                 
08 the state, and, as a result, the residents of the state may have a better understanding of the                          
09 Vietnam War and the brave individuals who gave their lives during the war; and                                          
10       WHEREAS the residents of Alaska will achieve an even better understanding of                                    
11 veterans and veterans' issues if they visit "The Moving Wall";                                                          
12       BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature encourages the citizens of the                                 
13 state to take steps to achieve a better understanding of the Vietnam War and of veterans'                               
14 issues in general; and be it                                                                                            
15       FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature respectfully requests and                                    
16 encourages the citizens of the state and representatives of all public and private agencies in                          

01 the state to visit "The Moving Wall" while it is in the state; and be it                                                
02       FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature declares May 29, 2006,                                       
03 through July 22, 2006, the Summer of Honor and Season of Gratitude to honor those who                                   
04 gave their lives in Vietnam and to honor all of America's veterans and their families for their                         
05 service and sacrifices.
