00 SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 4 01 Relating to the name of the City of Fairbanks and changing that name to Barnette's 02 Cache. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 WHEREAS there is located at the confluence of the Tanana and Chena Rivers in this 05 state a city of pride and prosperity that has long been suffering under the burden of a non- 06 indigenous name; and 07 WHEREAS this fair city located approximately 130 miles south of the Arctic Circle 08 with an approximate elevation of 448 feet and being the chief town of central Alaska, port of 09 entry, and railroad terminus, deserves an appellation compatible with its history and Alaska 10 setting; and 11 WHEREAS, as an instrumentality of the state, this city has a right to expect and 12 receive the full support and direction of the state legislature, particularly in matters over 13 which the city is not able to take effective action; 14 BE IT RESOLVED by the Alaska State Legislature that in response to the pleas of 15 the people of the aforementioned city for freedom from the onus of a name forced upon them 16 by an indifferent and unfeeling federal government, the legislature does hereby endow that

01 city with a name that is its natural inheritance--Barnette's Cache.
