01 Establishing a House Special Committee on Fisheries.

03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:                                                                       
04      WHEREAS fishing for personal use helps to define the Alaska lifestyle for many                                   
05 state residents; and                                                                                                    
06      WHEREAS sport fishing plays a significant role in the state tourism industry; and                                
07      WHEREAS the commercial fishing industry is one of Alaska's largest renewable                                     
08 resource industries; and                                                                                                
09      WHEREAS Alaska's subsistence fisheries are an important use of our fisheries                                     
10 resources; and                                                                                                          
11      WHEREAS the Alaska State Legislature must be well informed on all issues related                                 
12 to the fisheries of Alaska;                                                                                             
13      BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives that a House Special Committee                                    
14 on Fisheries is established to study fishery issues relevant to Alaska; and be it                                       
15      FURTHER RESOLVED that the speaker of the House of Representatives shall                                          
16 determine the number of representatives to be members of the committee, appoint the                                     

01 members, and designate a member to chair the committee; and be it                                                       
02      FURTHER RESOLVED that the House Special Committee on Fisheries may meet                                          
03 during and between sessions of the Twenty-Fourth Alaska State Legislature and is terminated                             
04 on the convening of the First Session of the Twenty-Fifth Alaska State Legislature.
