01 "An Act providing for a partial tuition waiver for families of members of the Alaska                                    
02 National Guard; and directing the executive director of the Alaska Commission on                                        
03 Postsecondary Education to seek additional funding to support tuition waivers."                                         
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1. AS 14.43 is amended by adding new sections to article 3 to read:                                      
06            Sec. 14.43.087. Partial tuition waiver for the family of a member of the                                   
07       Alaska National Guard. A person enrolled as a student in good standing in a state-                              
08       supported educational institution in this state is entitled to a waiver of 50 percent of                          
09       undergraduate tuition if the person is a spouse or child of an active member of the                               
10       Alaska National Guard.                                                                                            
11            Sec. 14.43.088. Supplemental appropriation. If the executive director of the                               
12       commission determines that there are insufficient funds to pay for tuition waivers for                            
13       all eligible applicants under AS 14.43.085 and 14.43.087, the executive director shall                            
14       request that the legislature make a supplemental appropriation to fund the waivers.
