00 HOUSE BILL NO. 30 01 "An Act making appropriations for K-12 education operating and school debt expenses; 02 and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND EARLY DEVELOPMENT -- K-12 05 SUPPORT FOR FY 2006. The sum of $823,523,500 is appropriated to the Department of 06 Education and Early Development for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006, for the purposes 07 described and allocated in the amounts listed from the general fund and from other sources in 08 the amounts set out: 09 PURPOSE ALLOCATION 10 Foundation program $762,255,200 11 Boarding home grants 185,900 12 Youth in detention 1,100,000 13 Special schools 6,425,200 14 Pupil transportation 53,557,200

SCHOOL DEBT REIMBURSEMENT. The sum of $81,870,084 is appropriated 06 to the Department of Education and Early Development for the fiscal year ending June 30, 07 2006, for state aid for costs of school construction under AS 14.11.100 from the following 08 sources: 09 Alaska debt retirement fund (AS 37.15.011) $51,670,084 10 School fund (AS 43.50.140) 30,200,000 11 * Sec. 3. RETIREMENT PROGRAM EXPENSES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2006. The sum 12 of $38,600,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education and 13 Early Development for payment as grants to school districts and regional educational 14 attendance areas to pay the increased costs of participation in the public employees' retirement 15 system and the teachers' retirement system for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2006. The 16 department shall apportion the amount appropriated by this section to each school district and 17 regional educational attendance area in the same proportion that the projected increased costs 18 of participation of the school district or regional educational attendance area in the public 19 employees' retirement system and the teachers' retirement system for fiscal year 2006 bear to 20 the projected total increased costs of participation in the public employees' retirement system 21 and the teachers' retirement system for all school districts and regional educational attendance 22 areas for fiscal year 2006. 23 * Sec. 4. This Act takes effect July 1, 2005.
