01 Relating to the performance of railroad track construction work for the Department of                                   
02 Transportation and Public Facilities by the Alaska Railroad Corporation.

04    * Section 1.  AS 36.30.015 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
05            (j)  Notwithstanding the other provisions of this chapter, when a project of the                             
06       Department of Transportation and Public Facilities includes construction of rails, ties,                          
07       or ballast for railroad tracks used by the Alaska Railroad Corporation, the Department                            
08       of Transportation and Public Facilities may enter into an agreement with the Alaska                               
09       Railroad Corporation for the Alaska Railroad Corporation to perform the work, and                                 
10       the Alaska Railroad Corporation may perform the work itself without procuring a                                   
11       contractor to provide the supplies, services, professional services, or construction                              
12       services necessary for the work.
