01 "An Act relating to a preference for Alaska residents in the consumptive uses of fish and                               
02 game."                                                                                                                  
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 16.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
05            Sec. 16.05.005.  Policy.  It is the policy of the state that the consumptive uses                          
06       of wild fish and game resources by Alaska residents for their sustenance is a very high                           
07       preference when considering the management and allocation of those resources.                                     
08       Nothing in this policy exempts a person from compliance with state law.  In this                                  
09       section, "sustenance" means that which is used for personal and family consumption                                
10       as food or nourishment, or to sustain life.
