01 "An Act requiring an auditable paper trail for electronic voting machines."                                             
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 15.20.900 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                          
04            (c)  The director shall provide for a paper record of each electronically                                    
05       generated ballot that can be reviewed and corrected by the voter at the time the vote is                          
06       cast and used for a recount of the votes cast at an election in which electronically                              
07       generated ballots were used.                                                                                      
08    * Sec. 2.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                         
09 read:                                                                                                                   
10       IMPLEMENTATION TIMELINE.  The director of elections shall implement the                                           
11 provisions of this Act by January 1, 2006.
