01 "An Act repealing the charter school grant program; and providing for an effective                                      
02 date."                                                                                                                  
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 14.03.263 is repealed.                                                                            
05    * Sec. 2.  The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                         
06 read:                                                                                                                   
07       CONTINGENT EFFECT.  Section 1 of this Act takes effect only if the state has                                      
08 received federal funding for charter school start-up costs that equals or exceeds the funding                           
09 provided by the state for charter school start-up costs in fiscal year 2003.  The director of the                       
10 division of legislative finance shall notify the revisor of statutes when the state receives the                        
11 federal funding for charter schools as described in this section.                                                       
12    * Sec. 3.  If this Act takes effect, it takes effect 90 days after the director of the division of                 
13 legislative finance notifies the revisor of statutes as described in sec. 2 of this Act.
