01 "An Act providing special absentee ballots for voters in remote areas."                                                 
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 15.20.082(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
04            (a)  The director shall prepare special absentee ballots under this section for                              
05       use in a state primary election, a state general election, and a state special election                           
06       when the voter notifies the director in writing that the voter expects to be living,                              
07       working, or traveling outside the United States or in a remote area of the state                              
08       where distance, terrain, or other natural conditions deny the voter reasonable                                
09       access to a polling place at the time of the election.  The director shall prepare the                        
10       ballot so that it may be sent to the absentee voter 60 days before the date of the                                
11       election.  The director shall list on the ballot the different races to be voted on at the                        
12       particular election on a statewide basis and, if the director prepares the ballot without                         
13       the names of candidates printed on the ballot, the director shall provide the voter with                          
14       information described in (c) of this section.
