HCR 35: Continuing the Alaska Energy Policy Task Force.

00 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 35 01 Continuing the Alaska Energy Policy Task Force. 02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 WHEREAS Legislative Resolve 24, approved by the First Session of the Twenty- 04 Third Alaska Legislature, declared that an adequate, reliable, reasonably priced, and safe 05 supply of electric energy is a basic necessity; that infrastructure elements are dependent on an 06 adequate, reliable, reasonably priced, and safe supply of energy; and that meaningful 07 economic development and technological advancement cannot occur in Alaska without an 08 adequate, reliable, safe, and reasonably priced energy supply; and 09 WHEREAS that Resolve affirmed the need to consider how electricity is generated, 10 transmitted, and distributed in Alaska in order to meet the state's existing and future electrical 11 needs in the safest and most efficient manner; and 12 WHEREAS that Resolve established the Alaska Energy Policy Task Force and 13 charged that body to review and analyze the state's current and long-term energy needs, 14 giving specific direction to consideration of Railbelt area current and long-term electrical 15 needs and the development of a long-term energy plan for Alaska that will efficiently enhance 16 the state's economic future; and

01 WHEREAS the Alaska Energy Policy Task Force established in that Resolve is 02 scheduled to terminate on April 15, 2004; 03 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska Energy Task Force established in Legislative 04 Resolve 24 is continued under the provisions of that Resolve; and be it 05 FURTHER RESOLVED that, in addition to the report of its findings regarding a 06 Railbelt energy plan that was submitted to the legislature in December 31, 2003, and the 07 report required to be submitted to the legislature regarding energy plans for areas of the state 08 other than the Railbelt by March 31, 2004, the task force shall submit a final comprehensive 09 report of its findings regarding both a Railbelt energy plan and one or more energy plans for 10 areas of the state other than the Railbelt to the legislature by January 31, 2005, and may make 11 any interim reports it considers advisable; and be it 12 FURTHER RESOLVED that the task force is terminated at 11:59 p.m. on March 1, 13 2005.
