01 "An Act making an appropriation to the Department of Education and Early                                                
02 Development for distribution to school districts for direct classroom instruction; and                                  
03 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1.  SHORT TITLE.  This Act shall be known as the No School Left Behind                                   
06 Appropriation Act.                                                                                                      
07    * Sec. 2.  DIRECT CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION.  The sum of $35,000,000 is                                                
08 appropriated from the general fund to the Department of Education and Early Development                                 
09 for distribution to school districts in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2005, based on each                             
10 school district's adjusted average daily membership, as that term is defined in                                         
11 AS 14.17.990(3), for direct classroom instruction.                                                                      
12    * Sec. 3.  This Act takes effect July 1, 2004.
