01 "An Act establishing an Alaska Caregivers Month; and providing for an effective date."                                  
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 44.12 is amended by adding a new section to article 2 to read:                                    
04            Sec. 44.12.100.  Alaska Caregivers Month.  The month of September each                                     
05       year is established as Alaska Caregivers Month to encourage the support and                                       
06       recognition of caregivers of vulnerable adults in the state.  In observance of Alaska                             
07       Caregivers Month, the Department of Health and Social Services shall provide                                      
08       opportunities for the recognition of caregivers of vulnerable adults in the state.  In this                       
09       section, "vulnerable adult" has the meaning given in AS 47.24.900.                                                
10    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
