00                            SENATE BILL NO. 370                                                                         
01 "An Act establishing procedures relating to constitutional conventions."                                                
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 15.50.080 is amended to read:                                                                     
04            Sec. 15.50.080.  Certification of vote.  If a majority of votes cast on the                                
05       question are in the affirmative, the lieutenant governor shall so certify and shall issue                         
06       the call for the convention.  The lieutenant governor may not issue the call before                           
07       October 1 of the year following the year in which the question of holding a                                   
08       constitutional convention was placed on the ballot.                                                           
09    * Sec. 2.  AS 15.50.090 is amended to read:                                                                        
10            Sec. 15.50.090.  Time and manner of selecting delegates.  Delegates to the                                 
11       convention shall be elected at the next statewide general election after the lieutenant                       
12       governor issues the call.  Two delegates shall be elected from each house district.                           
13       The provisions of AS 15.13 that apply to candidates for the house of                                          
14       representatives shall also apply to candidates for delegate to the convention [IN                             

01       THE NUMBER AND MANNER PRESCRIBED IN THE CALL FOR THE                                                              
02       CONVENTION BY THE LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OR AS PROVIDED BY                                                           
03       LAW].                                                                                                             
04    * Sec. 3.  AS 15.50 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                    
05            Sec. 15.50.095.  Location of constitutional convention.  The constitutional                                
06       convention shall be held at the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks.
