00 SENATE BILL NO. 340 01 "An Act relating to treatment of permanent fund dividends for purposes of determining 02 eligibility for certain benefits; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 43.23.075(b) is amended to read: 05 (b) An individual who is denied [MEDICAL] assistance under AS 47.25.430 - 06 47.25.615 (adult public assistance) or 42 U.S.C. 1381 - 1383c (Title XVI, Social 07 Security Act, Supplemental Security Income) [42 U.S.C. 1396 - 1396p (SOCIAL 08 SECURITY ACT, TITLE XIX)] solely because of the receipt of a permanent fund 09 dividend by the individual or by a member of the individual's household is eligible for 10 state-funded [MEDICAL] assistance under AS 47.25.120 - 47.25.300 (general relief 11 assistance program). The individual is entitled to receive, for a period not to exceed 12 four months, the same level of [MEDICAL] assistance as the individual would have 13 received under AS 47.25.430 - 47.25.615 (adult public assistance) or 42 U.S.C. 1381 14 - 1383c (Title XVI, Social Security Act, Supplemental Security Income) [42 U.S.C.
01 1396 - 1396p (SOCIAL SECURITY ACT, TITLE XIX)] had there been no permanent 02 fund dividend program. 03 * Sec. 2. AS 43.23.075(a), 43.23.075(c), and 43.23.085 are repealed. 04 * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect July 1, 2002.
