00 SENATE BILL NO. 39 01 "An Act relating to an assistant adjutant general for national missile defense in the 02 Department of Military and Veterans' Affairs." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 26.05 is amended by adding a new section to read: 05 Sec. 26.05.185. Assistant adjutant general for national missile defense. (a) 06 The adjutant general, with the concurrence of the governor, may appoint an assistant 07 adjutant general for national missile defense. The adjutant general for national missile 08 defense is the official military representative of the state in matters pertaining to the 09 development and deployment of a national missile defense program in this state. 10 (b) The assistant adjutant general for national missile defense shall be a 11 federally-recognized general grade officer in the Alaska National Guard or an officer 12 in the grade of colonel in the Alaska National Guard who has qualifications to gain 13 federal recognition as a general grade officer. 14 (c) The position of assistant adjutant general for national missile defense is
01 authorized for the duration of the development and deployment of a national missile 02 defense program in this state, subject to legislative appropriation of federal money 03 available for that purpose. 04 * Sec. 2. AS 39.25.110 is amended by adding a new paragraph to read: 05 (34) the assistant adjutant general for national missile defense 06 appointed under AS 26.05.185.
