00 HOUSE BILL NO. 405 01 "An Act relating to the prosecution of criminal offenses committed on or against ferries 02 and other watercraft owned or operated by the state; and providing for an effective 03 date." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 12.05 is amended by adding a new section to read: 06 Sec. 12.05.020. Offenses committed on ferries and other watercraft owned 07 or operated by the state. A person may be prosecuted under the laws of this state for 08 an offense committed on or against a ferry or other watercraft owned or operated by 09 the state, even if the ferry or other watercraft is in water outside the state when the 10 offense is alleged to have occurred. This jurisdiction is in addition to that provided by 11 AS 44.03 and any other jurisdictional basis expressed or implied in law. 12 * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 13 read: 14 APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to offenses committed on or after the effective
01 date of this Act. 02 * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
