01 "An Act relating to the crime of failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer; and                               
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 28.35.182(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
05            (a)  A person commits the offense of failure to stop at the direction of a peace                             
06       officer in the first degree if the person violates (b) of this section, and, during the                           
07       commission of that offense,                                                                                       
08                 (1)  the person violates AS 28.35.040;                                                          
09                 (2)  the person is committing vehicle theft in the first or second                                  
10       degree; or                                                                                                    
11                 (3)  as a result of the person's operation or driving, an accident                                  
12       occurs or a person suffers serious physical injury; in this paragraph, "serious                               
13       physical injury" has the meaning given in AS 11.81.900 [A TRAFFIC LAW OR                                      
14       COMMITS ANOTHER CRIME. IN THIS SUBSECTION,                                                                        

01                 (1)  "CRIME" HAS THE MEANING GIVEN IN AS 11.81.900;                                                     
02                 (2)  "TRAFFIC LAW" HAS THE MEANING GIVEN IN                                                             
03       AS 28.15.261].                                                                                                    
04    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
