00 HOUSE BILL NO. 347 01 "An Act relating to benefits for state officers and employees initially hired after June 30, 02 2002." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 39.20.200 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 05 (c) The personal leave accrued by an officer or employee initially hired after 06 June 30, 2002, is subject to the following limitations: 07 (1) notwithstanding (b) of this section, unused leave may not be 08 redeemed by an officer or employee for cash; 09 (2) notwithstanding AS 39.20.245, leave may not be donated; 10 (3) notwithstanding AS 39.20.250, terminal leave may not be allowed 11 for unused personal leave upon separation from service. 12 * Sec. 2. AS 39.20.240 is amended to read: 13 Sec. 39.20.240. Accumulation of personal leave. Except as provided in 14 AS 39.20.225(c), personal leave that is not taken by an officer or employee during a

01 12-month period accumulates for use in succeeding 12-month periods. An officer or 02 employee of the state initially hired after June 30, 2002, may not accumulate 03 more than 450 hours of personal leave. 04 * Sec. 3. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to 05 read: 06 APPLICABILITY OF ACT TO STATE EMPLOYEES IN BARGAINING UNITS 07 INITIALLY HIRED AFTER JUNE 30, 2002. AS 39.20.200(c), added by sec. 1 of this Act, 08 and AS 39.20.240, as amended by sec. 2 of this Act, do not apply to a state employee 09 represented by an organization with which the state has a collective bargaining agreement 10 until the day after the expiration of the collective bargaining agreement that is in effect on the 11 effective date of this Act. Nothing in this Act terminates or modifies the terms of a collective 12 bargaining agreement that is in effect on the effective date of this Act.
