00 HOUSE BILL NO. 123 01 "An Act relating to the use of frequent flyer miles or another bonus earned on travel 02 paid for by the state." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 39.90 is amended by adding a new section to read: 05 Article 3. Use of State-Paid Frequent Flyer Miles. 06 Sec. 39.90.200. Use of frequent flyer miles. (a) A state officer or employee 07 who participates in a frequent flyer mileage program and who accrues miles or another 08 bonus in the program because of state-paid travel expenses shall use that portion of the 09 officer's or employee's accrued miles or bonus that is based on the state-paid travel 10 expenses for subsequent state travel. A state officer or employee who terminates 11 employment with the state is not subject to this requirement. A state officer or 12 employee on layoff status shall retain the miles or other bonus to use for subsequent 13 state travel unless the right to use the miles or bonus will expire before the officer or 14 employee expects to return to state service.

01 (b) The Department of Administration shall adopt regulations to implement 02 this section for the executive branch of state government. The Board of Regents shall 03 implement this section for the University of Alaska. The chief justice of the supreme 04 court shall implement this section for the judicial branch of state government. The 05 legislative council shall implement this section for the legislative branch of state 06 government. The board of directors of the Alaska Railroad Corporation shall 07 implement this section for the Alaska Railroad Corporation. 08 (c) In this section, "state" means the executive, legislative, and judicial 09 branches of state government, including public corporations and quasi-public 10 corporations created by state law, the University of Alaska, and the Alaska Railroad 11 Corporation.
