00SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 34 01 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to 02 certain public corporations. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. Article III, sec. 26, Constitution of the State of Alaska, is amended to read: 05  Section 26. Boards and Commissions. When a board or commission is at the 06 head of a principal department or a regulatory or quasi-judicial agency, or at the head 07 of a public corporation that manages State assets, its members shall be appointed by 08 the governor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the members of the legislature in 09 joint session, and may be removed as provided by law. They shall be citizens of the 10 United States. The board or commission may appoint a principal executive officer when 11 authorized by law, but the appointment shall be subject to the approval of the governor. 12 With respect to public corporations, the legislature may by law exclude the 13 applicability of this section based on the type or value, or both, of the State assets 14 that are managed by the public corporation.

01 * Sec. 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of the 02 state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the State 03 of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
