00SENATE BILL NO. 290                                                                                                   
01 "An Act relating to state funding for transportation of public school students; and                                     
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 14.09.010(b) is amended to read:                                                                  
05  (b)  A school district that enters into a contract described under (a)(1) of this                                     
06 section shall be reimbursed for                                                                                         
07   (1)  at least 90 percent of the cost of operating the student transportation                                         
08 system if the transportation is provided by the school district; and                                                    
09   (2)  100 percent of the cost of operating the student transportation                                                 
10 system when the transportation is provided under a contract with the school district ,                                 
11 except that only 50 percent of those costs that are in excess of the amount                                             
12 received by the school district for student transportation reimbursement in fiscal                                      
13 year 2001 shall be reimbursed to the school district .                                                                 
14    * Sec. 2.   This Act takes effect July 1, 2001.
