01 "An Act relating to state procurement of certain computer-related contracts."                                           
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  AS 36.30 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
04  Sec. 36.30.075.  Procurement of computer-related supplies and services.                                              
05 (a)  When procuring supplies and services under this chapter, an agency shall include                                  
06 in the procurement specifications a requirement that                                                                    
07   (1)  each computer hardware and software product or item to be                                                       
08 delivered or developed under the contract be able to accurately process date data from,                                 
09 into, during, and between the 20th and 21st centuries when used in accordance with                                      
10 the documentation provided by the contractor;                                                                           
11   (2)  each product or service that is to be delivered or developed under                                              
12 the contract and that is not computer hardware or software but that interacts or is                                     
13 otherwise affected by the processing of data by computers be able to work accurately                                    
14 and effectively with computer hardware and software that can accurately process date                                    

01 data from, into, during, and between the 20th and 21st centuries when used in                                           
02 accordance with the documentation provided by the contractor.                                                           
03  (b)  In this section,                                                                                                 
04   (1)  "agency" includes the entities and procurement areas otherwise                                                  
05 excluded under AS 36.30.990(1)(B)(i) - (iii) and (v) - (viii);                                                          
06   (2)  "process" includes calculating, comparing, and sequencing, as well                                              
07 as the ability to process leap-year information.                                                                        
08    * Sec. 2.  This Act applies only to procurements that are begun on or after the effective                          
09 date of this Act.
