00CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 26(FIN) 01 "An Act relating to hindering prosecution and to providing false information or 02 reports to a peace officer." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 11.56.780(a) is amended to read: 05 (a) A person commits the crime of hindering prosecution in the second degree 06 if the person renders assistance to another who has committed a crime punishable as 07 a misdemeanor [BY IMPRISONMENT FOR MORE THAN 90 DAYS], with intent 08 to 09 (1) hinder the apprehension, prosecution, conviction, or punishment of 10 the other person; or 11 (2) assist the other person in profiting or benefiting from the 12 commission of the crime. 13 * Sec. 2. AS 11.56.800 is amended to read: 14 Sec. 11.56.800. False information or [MAKING A FALSE] report. (a) A
01 person commits the crime of [MAKING A] false information or report if the person 02 knowingly 03 (1) gives false information to a peace officer 04 (A) with the intent of implicating another in a crime; or 05 (B) concerning the person's identity while the person is 06 (i) under arrest, detention, or investigation for a 07 crime; or 08 (ii) being served with an arrest warrant or being 09 issued a citation; 10 (2) makes a false report to a peace officer that a crime has occurred or 11 is about to occur; 12 (3) makes a false report or gives a false alarm that a fire or other 13 incident dangerous to life or property calling for an emergency response has occurred 14 or is about to occur; or 15 (4) makes a false report to the Department of Natural Resources under 16 AS 46.17 concerning the condition of a dam or reservoir. 17 (b) False information or [MAKING A FALSE] report is a class A 18 misdemeanor.
