00CS FOR SENATE BILL NO. 26(JUD) 01 "An Act relating to hindering prosecution and to providing false information or 02 reports to a peace officer." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 11.56.780(a) is amended to read: 05  (a) A person commits the crime of hindering prosecution in the second degree 06 if the person renders assistance to another who has committed a crime punishable as 07 a misdemeanor [BY IMPRISONMENT FOR MORE THAN 90 DAYS], with intent 08 to 09  (1) hinder the apprehension, prosecution, conviction, or punishment of 10 the other person; or 11  (2) assist the other person in profiting or benefiting from the 12 commission of the crime. 13 * Sec. 2. AS 11.56.800 is amended to read: 14  Sec. 11.56.800. False information or [MAKING A FALSE] report. (a) A

01 person commits the crime of [MAKING A] false information or report if the person 02  (1) knowingly [(1)] gives false information to a peace officer with the 03 intent of implicating another in a crime; 04  (2) knowingly makes a false report to a peace officer that a crime has 05 occurred or is about to occur; 06  (3) knowingly makes a false report or gives a false alarm that a fire 07 or other incident dangerous to life or property calling for an emergency response has 08 occurred or is about to occur; or 09  (4) having committed a crime, knowingly gives false information 10 to a peace officer with the intent of avoiding apprehension, prosecution, 11 conviction, or punishment [MAKES A FALSE REPORT TO THE DEPARTMENT 12 OF NATURAL RESOURCES UNDER AS 46.17 CONCERNING THE CONDITION 13 OF A DAM OR RESERVOIR]. 14  (b) False information or [MAKING A FALSE] report is a class A 15 misdemeanor.
