00CS FOR HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 6(RLS)                                                                                    
01 Establishing a House Special Committee on Utility Restructuring.                                                        
02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:                                                                        
03  WHEREAS  utility services are  among modern society's most basic requirements; and                                   
04  WHEREAS the provision of adequate, reliable, and reasonably priced utility services                                  
05 are essential to the daily functions, safety, and economic well-being of Alaskans, their local                          
06 communities, and the state; and                                                                                         
07  WHEREAS fundamental restructuring of utility industries is now under deliberation                                    
08 in other states; and                                                                                                    
09  WHEREAS utility restructuring is a highly complex issue, carrying with it profound                                   
10 implications for all classes of consumers; and                                                                          
11  WHEREAS the implications and ramifications of such restructuring deserve detailed,                                   
12 careful, and informed decision making by the Alaska State Legislature;                                                  
13  BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives that a House Special Committee                                        
14 on Utility Restructuring is established; and be it                                                                      

01  FURTHER RESOLVED that the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall                                              
02 determine the number of members of the committee consistent with the Uniform Rules of the                               
03 Alaska State Legislature, appoint the members, and designate a member to chair the                                      
04 committee; and be it                                                                                                    
05  FURTHER RESOLVED that the House Special Committee on Utility Restructuring                                           
06 may meet during and between sessions of the Twenty-First Alaska State Legislature and is                                
07 terminated on the convening of the First Session of the Twenty-Second Alaska State                                      
08 Legislature.
