00HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 56 01 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska prohibiting 02 certain initiatives relating to wildlife. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. Article XI, sec. 7, Constitution of the State of Alaska, is amended to read: 05  Section 7. Restrictions. The initiative shall not be used to dedicate revenues, 06 make or repeal appropriations, create courts, define the jurisdiction of courts or 07 prescribe their rules, permit, regulate, or prohibit the taking or transportation of 08 wildlife, prescribe seasons or methods for the taking of wildlife, or enact local or 09 special legislation. The referendum shall not be applied to dedications of revenue, to 10 appropriations, to local or special legislation, or to laws necessary for the immediate 11 preservation of the public peace, health, or safety. 12 * Sec. 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of 13 the state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the 14 State of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
