00SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 7 01 Relating to the thirty-first annual Boys' State. 02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 03 WHEREAS the thirty-first annual Boys' State will be held June 21 - 28, 1997, at 04 Camp Challenge near Palmer under the sponsorship of the American Legion and cooperating 05 organizations; and 06 WHEREAS this outstanding annual program is dedicated to increasing the delegates' 07 awareness of their future roles in state and local government as well as promoting interest and 08 knowledge about the operation of our system of government; and 09 WHEREAS it is only through an admirable combination of volunteer effort and the 10 enterprising talents of generous individuals who do not receive government or taxpayer 11 monetary support that this week-long youth citizenship exercise known as Boys' State takes 12 place; and 13 WHEREAS the legislature encourages state and local legislators and other public 14 officials and agencies to volunteer their services and to provide copies of state publications

01 and materials related to the program; 02 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature applauds the sponsors of and 03 participants in the thirty-first annual Boys' State program, commends those government 04 officials and agencies and private individuals and organizations who support and participate 05 in this exercise in youth citizenship, and promises to continue to provide legislative materials, 06 advice, and encouragement to the Boys' State program as it does to similar worthy civic 07 efforts.
