01 "An Act relating to qualifications for appointment to the Board of Game."                                               
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 16.05.221(b) is amended to read:                                                                    
04  (b)  For purposes of the conservation and development of the game resources                                           
05 of the state, there is created a Board of Game composed of seven members appointed                                      
06 by the governor, subject to confirmation by a majority of the members of the                                            
07 legislature in joint session.  The governor shall appoint each member on the basis of                                   
08 interest in public affairs, good judgment, knowledge, and ability in the field of action                                
09 of the board, and with a view to providing diversity of interest and points of view in                                  
10 the membership.  The appointed members must [SHALL] be residents of the state and                                    
11 must have held a resident hunting or trapping license or a permanent                                                    
12 identification card issued under AS 16.05.400(b) during at least five of the                                            
13 previous seven years preceding the appointment to the board.  The members of                                            
14 the board shall be appointed without regard to political affiliation or geographical                                   

01 location of residence.  The commissioner is not a member of the Board of Game, but                                      
02 shall be ex officio secretary.                                                                                          
03    * Sec. 2.  APPLICABILITY.  AS 16.05.221(b), as amended by sec. 1 of this Act, applies                                
04 to persons appointed to the Board of Game after the effective date of this Act.
