00HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 7 01 Proposing an amendment to the Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature 02 relating to notice of committee meetings held during the first week of a first 03 regular session. 04 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. Rule 23(a), Uniform Rules of the Alaska State Legislature, is amended to 06 read: 07  (a) Written notice of the time, place and subject matter of all meetings of 08 standing, special, and joint committees during a week shall be provided by the person 09 who chairs the committee to the chief clerk or secretary by 4:00 p.m. on the Thursday 10 preceding the week of the meeting, except that, during the first week of the first 11 regular session, not less than 24 hours notice must be given [PRECEDING 12 THURSDAY]. The person who chairs the committee to which a bill or resolution is 13 first referred shall provide to the chief clerk or secretary written notice of the time and 14 place of the first public hearing on the bill or resolution at least five days before the

01 hearing. However, this requirement may be waived by motion of the person who 02 chairs the committee to which a bill or resolution is first referred if concurred in by 03 majority vote of the full membership of the house. The chief clerk or secretary shall 04 publish and distribute copies of the weekly schedule of committee meetings and of the 05 five-day notice of hearing.
