01 "An Act relating to the crime of endangering the welfare of a minor."                                                   
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
03    * Section 1.  AS 11.51.100(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
04  (a)  A person commits the crime of endangering the welfare of a minor if,                                             
05 being a parent, guardian, or other person legally charged with the care of a child under                                
06 10 years of age, the person                                                                                             
07    (1)   intentionally deserts the child in any place under circumstances                                            
08 creating a substantial risk of physical injury to the child ;                                                          
09   (2)  with criminal negligence, has the child in the person's care and                                                
10 the person's physical or mental condition is impaired as a result of the                                                
11 introduction of an intoxicating liquor or a controlled substance into the person's                                      
12 body; or                                                                                                                
13   (3)  with criminal negligence, has the child in the person's care                                                    
14   (A)  in a place where the person knows or reasonably ought                                                          

01 to know that a controlled substance is possessed in violation of law; or                                                
02   (B)  while the person illegally possesses a controlled                                                              
03 substance .
