01 "An Act relating to the utilization of groundfish; and providing for an effective                                       
02 date."                                                                                                                  
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                               
04    * Section 1.  AS 16.10.165(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
05  (a)  Unless otherwise provided by law, a person may not recklessly waste or                                           
06 cause to be wasted  groundfish  [POLLOCK] taken in a commercial fishery.                                              
07    * Sec. 2.  AS 16.10.165(e)(3) is amended to read:                                                                  
08   (3)  "waste" means the failure to use the flesh of  groundfish                                                     
09 [POLLOCK] for human consumption, reduction to meal, production of food for                                              
10 domestic animals or fish, or scientific, display, or educational purposes; "waste" does                                 
11 not include normal, inadvertent loss of flesh associated with processing that cannot be                                 
12 prevented by practical means.                                                                                           
13    * Sec. 3.  AS 16.10.165(e) is amended by adding a new paragraph to read:                                           
14   (4)  "groundfish" means                                                                                              

01   (A)  pollock; or                                                                                                    
02   (B)  other species of groundfish designated by the Board of                                                         
03 Fisheries under authority of this section.                                                                              
04    * Sec. 4.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
