01 "An Act relating to civil liability for illegal sales of alcoholic beverages; and                                       
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 04.21.020 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                            
05  (b)  Notwithstanding (a) of this section, a person who sells or barters an                                            
06 alcoholic beverage to another person in violation of AS 04.11.010 is strictly liable for                                
07 civil damages resulting from the intoxication of the person receiving the alcoholic                                     
08 beverage.                                                                                                               
09    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1997.
