00SENATE BILL NO. 322 01 "An Act relating to distribution of national forest income to boroughs; and 02 providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 41.15.180(a) is amended to read: 05 (a) When the commissioner of community and regional affairs receives 06 national forest income under 16 U.S.C. 500, the commissioner shall immediately pay 07 to an [EACH] organized borough in which national forest land is located a share of 08 the income from that forest if timber has been harvested from the portion of the 09 forest located in that borough within five calendar years immediately preceding 10 the year the commissioner receives the national forest income. An [; AN] 11 organized borough's share of income from a national forest shall be proportional to the 12 area of the national forest located within its boundaries. If a borough with national 13 forest land located within its boundaries does not qualify for a payment under 14 this subsection, the borough's share shall be paid to each of the other boroughs
01 that qualify for the payment in proportion to the amount each borough qualified 02 for. 03 * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect July 1, 1996.
