Atwood journalism chair 02 at the University of Alaska Anchorage; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 14.40 is amended by adding a new section to read: 05 Sec. 14.40.286. ENDOWMENT FOR JOURNALISM. (a) The Board of 06 Regents shall establish an endowment for the Robert B. Atwood Chair of Journalism 07 at the University of Alaska Anchorage. The endowment shall consist of appropriations 08 and contributions from other sources. The endowment shall be managed as a perpetual 09 trust. The income of the endowment shall be used to pay the salary and related 10 expenses of the person appointed under (b) of this section for teaching in the field of 11 journalism. 12 (b) The chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage shall appoint a 13 person who is distinguished in one or more print or broadcast disciplines to be paid 14 from the income of the endowment established under (a) of this section. The tenure
01 and the duties of the appointee shall be established by an agreement between the 02 chancellor of the University of Alaska Anchorage and the Atwood Foundation. 03 * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect July 1, 1996.
