01 "An Act relating to joint insurance arrangements; and providing for an effective                                        
02 date."                                                                                                                  
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 21.76.010(a) is amended to read:                                                                    
05  (a)  Municipalities and their public corporations, city and borough school                                            
06 districts, [AND] regional educational attendance areas, and nonprofit corporations                                     
07 incorporated in this state, Native associations, or Native village councils, if the                                     
08 association, council, or corporation exercises at least two of the general municipal                                    
09 powers described under AS 29.35.010, may enter into cooperative agreements with                                        
10 each other for the purpose of establishing, operating, or participating in joint insurance                              
11 arrangements through which the participating members agree to pool contributions in                                     
12 order to either assume risks from losses to the participants on a group basis or                                        
13 purchase coverage for the participants on a group basis.                                                                
14    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
