00HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 12 01 Supporting the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Alaska 02 and the Alaska Community Colleges' Federation of Teachers. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES: 04 WHEREAS the University of Alaska and the Federation of Teachers Local 2404, AFT, 05 AFL-CIO, representing Alaska Community College teachers entered into a collective 06 bargaining agreement that was the subject of arbitration; and 07 WHEREAS an arbitrator ruled that under the contract, members of the collective 08 bargaining unit were entitled to a three percent salary increase; and 09 WHEREAS, in Fiscal Year 1995, the legislature funded appropriations for salaries for 10 the University of Alaska that included salaries for teachers who are members of the Federation 11 of Teachers Local 2404, AFT, AFL-CIO, without rejecting the salary increase for members 12 of Local 2404; and 13 WHEREAS the University of Alaska has asserted that it is not obligated to pay the 14 increase because the legislature did not specifically appropriate money for that purpose;
01 BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives that the University of Alaska 02 should be held obligated to pay the three percent salary increase awarded by the arbitrator.
