HCR 38: Relating to state control of the management of the region surrounding the Fortymile River and its drainage.

00HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 38 01 Relating to state control of the management of the region surrounding the 02 Fortymile River and its drainage. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 WHEREAS the region surrounding the Fortymile River and its drainage has had a 05 long history of mining use and is known to be one of the richest mining regions in the state; 06 and 07 WHEREAS the United States Bureau of Land Management has used every means 08 available to it to prevent mining in the Fortymile River region; 09 BE IT RESOLVED that the Alaska State Legislature respectfully requests the 10 governor to take the steps necessary for the state to assume control of the management of the 11 region surrounding the Fortymile River and its drainage. 12 COPIES of this resolution shall be sent to the Honorable Ted Stevens and the 13 Honorable Frank Murkowski, U.S. Senators, and the Honorable Don Young, U.S. 14 Representative, members of the Alaska delegation in Congress.
